Creative Movement Ages 3-6
An Introduction to Movement, Imagination, and Music

Students learn foundational ballet and modern dance concepts through guided imagination and movement exercises. They are encouraged to think "outside the box” through positivity, patience, and exploration.

Group A Ages 7-8
Beginner Ballet, Improvisation, Modern, and Composition

Students are introduced to dance concepts through images, shapes, and characters. Students learn introductory ballet, modern dance vocabulary and principles of movement. Students are encouraged to express their artistry through creative movement and improvisation.   Curriculum incorporates introductory dance history lessons, along with guest classes in musical theater, tap, hip hop, and more. Students create and share their own choreographic work.

Group B Ages 8-9 
Beginner to Intermediate Ballet, Modern, Improvisation, Composition
Special focus on alignment, musicality, and the development of skills in learning combinations and choreography. Students learn additional ballet and modern dance vocabulary, and are introduced to additional improvisation and composition tools. Curriculum incorporates introductory history lessons in dance technique, along with guest classes in musical theater, tap, hip hop, and more. Students have the opportunity to perform in site specific venues throughout the year.

Group C Ages 9-10
Intermediate Ballet, Modern, Improvisation, Composition
Continued focus on alignment, musicality, and the development of skills in learning combinations & choreography. Skills are acquired through a focus on gravity, musicality, spatial awareness, and anatomy while building coordination, discovering the fullness of dance. Students sharpen ballet and modern dance vocabulary, improvisation skill & composition tools. Curriculum incorporates history lessons in dance technique & guest classes in musical theater, tap, hip hop, & more. Students have the opportunity to perform in site specific venues throughout the year. .​Register for Group C

Group D Ages 10-14
Intermediate to Advanced Ballet, Modern, Improvisation, Composition
Continued focus on alignment, musicality, and the development of skills in learning combinations and choreography. Skills are acquired through a focus on the use of gravity, musicality, spatial awareness, & anatomy. Students learn variations between modern and ballet dance techniques and approaches. Students learn to dance and create fully and with intention. Curriculum incorporates history lessons in dance technique, along with guest classes in musical theater, tap, hip hop, & more. Students have the opportunity to perform in site specific venues throughout the year. Register for Group D

Hip Hop 
In-person
In this hip hop class, students will be taught beginner to intermediate movement of the dance form. We will begin with exercises to warm up the body, across the floor work, and stretching. Class will focus on popping, house, variations of wacking, and some basic elements of breaking. The history of the forms and elements will be shared alongside the movement. Class will be a safe space where students can feel free to express themselves, freestyle/improv, so that they can find their individuality in the movement and develop their own style.

Compositon
Virtual Class
Virtual Composition is a contemporary composition class designed for students studying dance at home during the pandemic. Students will incorporate found objects as props and create site-specific dances from their homes. Students will design their own choreography and develop beginner compositional and improvisational skills. This class is held on Zoom.

All Group A-D classes include regular dance history classes and guest classes with local artists.

Students are required to register for all three sessions.
Payment is due at the start of each session.
There is a $10 processing fee at the start of each session.

5% discount for full year payment

Class Rules 
- Be respectful of and exercise positivity towards classmates and instructors
- Arrive a maximum of 15 minutes before class
- Use of the restroom is
 strongly encouraged before coming to and before class
- Limit talking during class 
- For questions during class,
 raise hand to ask instructor
- Street shoes, food, and water bottles are not permitted on the dance floor
- Before class, hair should be clipped back if short, or put up and secured neatly if long


Attendance and Missed Classes
- Missed classes must be made up within the same session
- Attendance is required at all student performances and class showings

- Students are encouraged to make up missed classes
- To reschedule a missed classes, please email dance@wemakepretend.com

Dress Code
Ballet Class
- (either/or) Black leotard and tights with canvas ballet shoes
- (either/or) Solid color shirt and shorts, with canvas ballet shoes
- Please visit blendzapparel.com and auroratights.com to find dance attire of all tones 

Modern & Composition and Musical Theater Class
- Form-fitting, solid color athletic clothing
- No logos or patterns 
- No shoes or socks

Studio Etiquette
- *Please note our COVID -19 Safety and Social Distancing policies currently in effect posted on the front windows before entering studio and throughout the studio
- Quiet in the waiting area at all times to not distract students and instructors during class
- Food is not permitted in the bathrooms
- Please use the designated trash
 can by the kitchen area
- Dogs are not permitted in the studio

Location and Parking

- All classes are held at TEN31 Productions, 249 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860, unless otherwise noted
- 
Parking lot entrance is on the corner of Roosevelt Ave. and Exchange Street (look for the St. Joseph's sign)
- Drive along river to the rear of the building to the blue TEN31/REVEL sign
- Free Parking is available along river side of parking lot

- No parking in front of the TEN31 loading dock garage
- ONE WAY ENTER AND EXIT Enter from the wooden stairs with potted trees AND EXIT VIA THE SIDE ENTRANCE ​
